How to turn Inkscape artwork into a Lottie
Inkscape works in SVG natively, which makes it one of the smoothest imports into Lottie Max.
Get the SVG out of Inkscape
- 1 Save a file: File → Save As (or Save a Copy) → Plain SVG or Optimized SVG.
- 2 Or copy markup: select your artwork and Edit → Copy.
- 3 Then in Lottie Max, press Cmd/Ctrl + V on the canvas — or drag the .svg file straight onto the canvas, or use Open SVG file on the home page.
What carries over
- ✓ Shapes become editable paths you can restyle and animate.
- ✓ Groups are preserved as nested layers.
- ✓ Gradients, clip-paths, and fills come across.
- ✓ Text comes in as editable text layers.
Tips for a clean import
- → Use Plain SVG or Optimized SVG to avoid Inkscape-specific metadata.
- → Path → Object to Path to bake exact shape geometry before exporting.
- → Path → Stroke to Path when you need stroke geometry preserved precisely.
Now animate it
Once your art is in, add motion with one-click presets or keyframes.
